Our Core Values

With so many choices what differentiates the Chantilly Soccer Club from the rest?

  1. We believe the key ingredient to developing a love and passion for the game of soccer is fun;
  2. We believe in our curriculum to develop players to their highest potential;
  3. We believe in developing a growth mindset mentality to learn and improve;
  4. We believe soccer should be accessible to all players who have a desire to learn the game;
  5. We believe teaching the ideals of sportsmanship, fair play, respect, and teamwork, and developing a love and passion for the game of soccer are the most important elements to youth soccer;
  6. We believe a competitive match at any skill level can be found within a 20 mile radius of Chantilly, VA;
  7. We believe because soccer requires long term development and is a late stage specialization sport where players peak in their mid- to late-twenties (early thirties for goalkeepers), that no child should be considered an 'elite' athlete. Pele, who won the World Cup in 1958 with Brazil, was 17 years, 8 months, and 6 days old.
  8. We believe the best coaches are dedicated in order of priority: to the health and safety of players, teaching the ideals of sportsmanship, fair play, respect, and teamwork, and long term individual player development of soccer skills, knowledge of the game, and performance.
  9. We believe all coaches at CSC should have age-appropriate USSF coaching licenses;
  10. We believe all coaches at CSC should teach the club's playing style and philosophy by using and implementing CSC's curriculum.
  11. We believe that everybody has soccer in them and the best coaches have the ability to bring it out of each player;
  12. We believe every player should play a variety of positions including goalkeeper. Players should not play in the GK position against their will
  13. We believe the role of the soccer club is to provide the best learning environment for every player to reach their highest potential;
  14. We believe the goal of every player and coach is to reach the next level through effort and commitment to improving in training and in games. Winning is the byproduct of this approach.
  15. We believe in a player-centric, holistic development model: the US Youth Soccer Player Development Model;
  16. We believe kids in Zone 1 (U6-U12) should participate and sample mulitple sports- not specialize in one sport. Specialization starts at U13 where players can choose soccer as their primary sport.
  17. We believe in providing parents the best resources to make the best decisions for their soccer playing children.
  18. We believe the goal of competition prior to U16 should be on players to do their best rather than compete to be the best.
  19. We believe players should be placed in the right competitive environment based on their skill level and development needs. Teams, likewise, should be placed at the right competitvie level in leagues and in tournaments. If teams go 10-0 or 0-10 they are not at the right level. An ideal season at the right competitive level is 5 wins and 5 losses.
  20. We believe young athletes should not be professionalized; rather young players should develop at their own pace and strike a balance between soccer and outside activities;
  21. We believe soccer isn't necessarily recreational or competitive but rather how much a child is committed and willing to put in the effort to improve as a player.
  22. We believe in long term individual player development- developing a player's techical, tactical, physical, and psycho-social skills with patience and perseverence over team building, short-term gains, and winning games.
  23. We believe it's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game.
  24. We believe the US Youth Soccer Development Model is the best youth soccer development model in the United States, if not the world.
